Shakespeare has an exceptional ability to compose plays full of deceit, deceit, murderous revenge and jealousy. In Othello, one of his most recognized tragedies constantly evolved around the central theme of jealousy. Jealousy in Othello is what the play is based on. One of Shakespeare's most believable characteristics in his writings is his ability to compose a play in which he has a story that originates and walks on a lie. As these lies were exposed, the central theme of his work became distinct and clearly visible. The central theme was based on the acts that the characters had performed based on their feelings of jealousy. The flaws of all the characters lie in their blindness to ignore Iago's lies. What made each character jealous was what they perceived as the truth. What adds to this great tragedy is that it is also a love story. In which a man, Othello, loves Desdemona excessively and passionately, but loves her imprudently. Love consumes all who partake in it, and in Othello's case his flaws lie in loving Desdemona so blindly. It is for this reason alone that Iago knows that a man as naïve as Othello, who loves his wife so blindly and unrealistically, can be made to think whatever Iago wants Othello to believe. Just as Othello's flaws lay in his inability to see beyond his feelings of jealousy, so did most of the other characters, regardless of what social ranking they were classified into. Even from well-developed characters, like Othello, to minor figures. , like Roderigo, envy and lust were feelings that all of Shakespeare's characters were bound to experience at some point in the play. Within each of Othello's characters there was a level of jealousy, which Iago c...... middle of paper ...... to seek revenge, in the most gruesome way possible. Through Iago's manipulation to distort reality, there is an intricate way to make the vengeful Othello take total control of the trustworthy, reliable and faithful officer and husband named Othello. Othello is a tragedy of numerous dimensions. The most dominant issues in Shakespeare's Othello are evil and jealousy. From these two dominant issues it can be said that envy or jealousy can be held responsible for the act of evil, to a certain extent beyond it. Jealousy obviously harms oneself and most of the time it is irrational. Demonstrating once again “the intrinsic instability of evil, the ultimate impotence of jealous gods”.
