In both feminist and ecological criticism, the goal is to highlight the sexism of the appeal to a generic human kind and humanity and to discover, instead of a global appeal, the connections between sexism, racism, imperialism, classism and environmental exploitation. An example of ecofeminist deconstruction is feminist analyst Joni Seager. Seager, as discussed in Noel Sturgeon's book Ecofeminist Natures, identifies the patriarchal characteristics of governments, armies and corporations as a major factor in their continued responsibility for environmental degradation.
