Society makes individuals feel as if they are constantly being judged. In the poem "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" he talks about a man who feels similar that he is not worthy enough to talk to a woman. He repeatedly humiliates himself because of what he assumes the woman will say to him or him if he talks to them. Prufrock compares himself to multiple people in the poem such as Lazarus and Prince Hamlet as a way of saying that his life is meaningless. In the general public today people are so critical of the way an individual looks, dresses and smells. It's discriminatory and it's not right, no one should ever be ashamed of their appearance. Prufrock doubted himself, but maybe if he gave women a chance he could see if they thought of him like he thought of himself. Even though people can be cruel, not everyone is the same. Society can change its mind
